Guptkashi is situated in the Rudraparayg district of Garhwal division of Uttarakhand. It Is one of the three major Kashis, Uttarkashi, Kashi(Varanasi) and Guptkashi. Like most of the hill towns of Uttarakhand, Guptkashi is also a town of religious importance. Vishwanath temple is in front of this pond and Ardhanarishwar temple there by its side. The trek from Guptakashi to Hemkund Sahib and flower valley provides a great trekking experience to the people visiting here. Here you can get a beautiful experience by travelling to the valley of flowers. This valley is 10 km long and 2 km wide, is open for tourists from April to August. During this time the valley is at its most beautiful. The distance from here to Guptkashi is only 53 kilometers. If you want to trek to any religious place during your Guptkashi trip, you can trek to Tungnath temple. The best time for this trek is from March to October.
Vishwanath temple is one of the major pilgrimage sites of Guptakashi. It is very similar to Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi. If you are going on a religious trip to Guptkashi, you must definitely visit this temple. You must also visit Ardhanarishwar temple dedicated to Lord Shiva on the left side of Vishwanath Temple it is one the major pilgrimage centers of Guptkashi.
You can also trek to Gaurikund which is at an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level and this place is considered best base camp site if heading to Kedarnath.
